What is GRAVHOUNDS?
GRAVHOUNDS is a co-op action builder for one to four players, made by the seven-person team at Octopus Panic. Groups of bio-engineered canine workers are deployed to hostile planets where they collect materials, construct and protect a base, fight off alien waves and then escape with whatever they can carry. The extraction loop is risk-reward: the longer a crew stays, the larger the incoming threat, but also the bigger the haul.
Extraction Risk-Reward
The longer your pack stays on a planet, the deadlier the swarm gets — but the richer the haul when you extract with everything you can carry.
Grav Beam Physics
The signature gravity tool flings objects and enemies across the battlefield, breaks up the swarm and lets the whole team play with physics.
Base Build & Defense
Generators, fabricators, turrets and pipelines turn a landing zone into a fortified operation that can survive wave after wave.
1-4 Player Co-op
Form a pack of up to four players, split jobs on planet and cover each other's backs when the extraction timer starts to run.
The playable crew is built around the Grav Beam, a gravity tool that lets dogs hurl objects — including enemies — across the battlefield. Defense comes from deployable turrets, generators and fabricators, while pipelines carry power and resources across hostile terrain. Loadouts, abilities and upgrades can all be reshaped mid-shift, which keeps late shifts tight even for experienced squads.

GRAVHOUNDS Roster Overview
The four demo Gravhounds confirmed by the developer. Tier labels are early community impressions from demo play — treat them as a starting point until Early Access balance settles.
Base Building Structures
The confirmed pieces of the demo's build kit: generators, fabricators, turrets, pipelines and boost pads. Priority tiers reflect a recommended early build order, not official stats.
Generator
Best Placement: Place early, next to fabricators and turret clusters.
Fabricator
Best Placement: Anchor it near the generator in the base core.
Turret
Best Placement: Stand the turrets on the main wave lanes, not inside the walls.
Pipeline
Best Placement: Run it along the escape route to keep extraction alive.
Boost Pad
Best Placement: Long straight pipeline sections and extraction run-ups.
Planets & Solar Systems Overview
The demo's two solar systems and seven planets, plus the world archetypes the developer has confirmed. Specific planet names have not been announced yet.
Weapons & Loadout Pieces
The confirmed tools and loadout pieces around the Grav Beam: the arsenal, mid-shift upgrades, multitool and compass. Tiers are priority impressions from official copy and demo observations.
Grav Beam
Best With: Best with the multitool for transport and crowd control.
Weapons Arsenal
Best With: Pairs with long-range and crowd-control loadouts.
Loadouts
Best With: Works for solo and co-op runs alike.
Upgrades
Best With: Spend them as the swarm escalates rather than hoarding.
Multitool
Best With: Reported strongest for scout and builder roles.
GRAVHOUNDS Quick Answers
How does GRAVHOUNDS Early Access work?+
GRAVHOUNDS launches into Early Access on November 2, 2026 on Steam and Xbox Series X|S. The developer expects the Early Access period to last roughly six months, though they have said it may run longer. The store page notes that the price will rise after the Early Access launch, so the announced launch price is the low-water mark. Game Pass subscribers get the game on day one on PC and console through the Xbox Game Pass catalog.
What is in the free GRAVHOUNDS demo?+
The free open demo went live on October 12, 2026 and is still playable now. It covers two solar systems with seven planets and the four Gravhounds confirmed so far: Selene, Zane, Dozer and Finn. The demo received its first patch on October 14, 2026 and gives you the full early loop — jobs, base building, swarm defense and extraction — as a preview of the November Early Access build.
Is GRAVHOUNDS crossplay between Steam and Xbox?+
Crossplay between Steam and Xbox has not been officially confirmed yet, so treat every claim you see online as a rumor. What we do know is that co-op supports up to four players online, the game ships on the same day on Steam and Xbox, and Game Pass Day One invites the claimed community. We will update this answer the moment the developer publishes an official statement on cross-platform play.
Is GRAVHOUNDS on Xbox Game Pass?+
Yes. The official website and store pages confirm that GRAVHOUNDS joins Xbox Game Pass on day one on PC and Xbox Series X|S when Early Access launches on November 2, 2026. That means Game Pass subscribers can play the Early Access build without a separate purchase for as long as the game stays in the catalog. The Xbox store page lists the game under its Game Preview program, which is how Xbox brands Early Access releases.
How does the swarm escalation work?+
The swarm is the pressure valve of every shift. The longer your pack stays on a planet, the deadlier the incoming alien waves become, which is why extraction is a real decision rather than an afterthought. Shorter stays keep the swarm manageable but limit how much you haul; longer stays stack bigger rewards against waves that grow faster than your upgrades. Good packs read the escalation, call the extraction and leave with a tidy profit before the danger curve wins.
When should I extract?+
Extract when the swarm's growth starts outpacing what your base and loadouts can remove. On early planets that usually means leaving as soon as the job quota is met and the pack is healthy; on treacherous worlds you gamble extra time for better materials. Because volatile cargo is risky to transport and every extra minute spawns stronger waves, most successful demo runs leave a little early rather than a little late — secure the haul, then read the roadmap for the next run.
